History

The Pehr cellar is named after the church pastor Pehr Högström (1714-1784). Högström was church pastor in the congregation but also chair of the Royal Academy of Sciences. Genuinely interested in plant cultivation, he made all kinds of attempts to plant plants and fruit trees that had never before been seen in these northern regions. Many of his attempts failed, but the first apple in Norrland was picked here.
